12 pro max - camera cannot focus

I just got a iphone 12 pro max. I noticed that when I try to do close-up shots, it cannot focus easily. Compared to my old iphone 7 +, the 7 + is much better. Older 7+ has better color also. The iphone 12 pro max has this strange greenish tone to it.

Make sure you’re about 8 cm away from your subject and try focussing manually - tap the subject on the screen.

I haven’t experienced that myself yet, but it seems to be a widespread problem. Apple seems to be aware of it. Send them feedback, though: Feedback - iPhone - Apple

I took side by side pics using the 12 and 7+ and clearly, the 7+ can focus on the item. The 12 is fuzzy.
