Its not even New Year yet, but already the figures are in for Christmas iOS and Android activity! AppleInsider reports today that according to newly released figures from Flurry, more than 17.4 million iOS and Android devices were activated on Christmas Day this year, up 332% from the December baseline average, which was 4 million activations daily. AppleInsider says that this staggering figure is 2.5 x more than Christmas last year, which was, until that point, a record-breaking figure. Flurry also revealed that smartphones were the most activated devices up to Christmas Day, but on Christmas Day itself tablets took over, with 51% of all activations. Amazons Kindle Fire had the biggest single-day growth. As far as app download figures are concerned, AppleInsider reports that Flurry found that there was a 112% increase on Christmas Day, in comparison with the previous 20 days. In total, 328 million iOS and Android apps were downloaded.
