2nd Address / Contacts book ?

I have a huge pile of "archive" contacts (3,000) that I very infrequently use. I don't want them part of my regular Contacts book.

Are there any apps or ways to have a totally separate 2nd Contacts book ? Doesn't need to be integrated with the phone function.

I see there's "groups" in my Contacts app - I sync my primary contacts with google - so I'd rather not do this.

Just looking for a totally separate 2nd way to store contacts.

Bot with the stock contact app. Look for ABContact in the app store, however, the phone app contact link will always display all your contacts the way they are store in the stock contact app.

You could create a new email address with google and put the rest of the contacts in there, and choose to have them off or on from Settings-Mail, Contacts and Calendars.

And I think if you turn them on, it will show this in Contacts, you can choose what group of contacts you want to see.

Good suggestion - guess when that group is turned off they do not appear in searches or email composition.
