32 G. capacity?

Why does my Verizon 32 gig IP4 only show a capacity of 29.06? Is the IOS 3 gigs?

well the iphone is partitioned one side has around 1GB (not sure of the exact space allocated) but its for the os to install, and the remaining 29GB is for you to use. thats normal that you only see 29GB in itunes. the ios itself is around 730MB now, so when you upgrade it just wipes the ios part of the partition leaving the files as they are and you can upgrade or restore if you want

Thanks, that's what I expected but they should not advertise 32g if you don't get 32g. I imagine the old 8g IP3's didn't have room for anything!

the first iphones had 4/8GB space then 8/16GB then the iphone 3g + had 16 and 32GB models..

well it is 32GB but with the space needed for the os you dont get to use it all on apps/games or what ever you decide to put on there. so they are not lying or saying you are getting 32 and not getting it because you do get it all

Yeah, I know, just aggravating. They should at least advertise 32g/29g formatted. Oh well. i can get a lot of pics and vids on my remaining 12g

yeah i had to delete mp3s so i can install more apps/games but i imagine the next iphone we will se a 64GB model, at least i hope we will

Could be worse. You could have a HTC thunderbolt that advertises 8 gigs of on board storage but in reality you only get to use 2.5 gigs.
