hi guys.
i have been living with my 3gs (4.3.3, ipad baseband) with the super annoying dfu loop for more than a year now because i didnt wanted to lose its nice setup with all i have done. my phone would just turn off and get into dfu mode randomly and the only thing i could do to get it back on was a forced reset by pressing lock and home button for 10 sec. but even with that it would sometimes take half hour and 40 tries.
so then couple weeks ago i did a reset of all settings and it didnt crash at all anymore since then.
2 days ago i wanted to replace my weak battery with another one, but didnt knew that the 3g battery i wanted to replace it with isnt compatible and it would just crash after couple minutes over and over again...
installed my old battery again and since then the regular crashes with dfu loop are back and more annoying than ever. for example this morning i used the phone after waking up to send a text, fell asleep again and when i woke up it was crashed.
i figured out as well couple weeks ago the day i did the reset of settings, that i am able to boot the phone (sometimes) with redsn0w when its stuck, but when i try that now, its stuck on a white screen.
so now i would like to upgrade it to ios5 BUT before i do that i wanted to ask in here what have to do or take care for because i didnt followed the latest news jailbreak wise since a year now. i have the ipad paseband so i can use it with claro in puerto rico.
which ios5 version should i upgrade and how get i rid forever of the dfu loop?
edit: i have always problems to restore on my mac (maybe servers) so i usually use xp in bootcamp for iphone stuff. so if you give me any instructions maybe its better in windows.
thank you guys!!!
i just got it back on again with forced reset and will wait for some answers now. is there any way to restore with all jailbroken apps after i update to ios5?
