Since I have been reading a lot that viruses and malware can't infect our iPhone devices like they can our computers.
Would it be safe to say that we can use our iPhones to open suspicious email with-out risk of infection.
I wouldn't risk it with my computer and deleting them without viewing them sometimes bothers me because they are from known sources but look suspicious.
Also my iPhone is jail broken if that makes a difference.
Thanks for any advice

You cant get any viruses or anything by opening an email on your computer. You can get infected by clicking on links or downloading attatchments in emails.

What if I want to follow a link or download an attachment.
Would it be safe to do so with an iPhone my understanding is you can open attachments follow links whatever you like with an iPhone risk free because it is not possible for a iPhone to get infected ???

I've studied operating systems since the '80's and I've learn two very important things:

* There's no such thing as a completely secure operating system
* The weakest link in the security chain is the user

Exactly. Any operating system can be exploited.

What you are saying is that the iPhone can be infected by a virus or malware just like our computers can be.
Is there a antivirus or malware app that you would recommend for the iPhone through the AppStore or Cydia.
It would be nice to scan e-mails for threats and to keep our devices safe

Just get a virus scanner that scans your emails. And no, you are not going to get a virus or malware on your iPhone. There is only one "virus" in the history of iDevices and it simply changed your wallpaper to a picture of Rick Astley and it only infected jailbroken devices. You don't need to worry about getting a virus on your phone.

My iPhone is jail broken.
Thanks for everyone's advice i will look for a app that can scan emails for threats

Can anyone recommend a anti virus/ malware app for the iPhone
Thanks

There are none, because as I said, you do not need to worry about getting a virus/malware on an iDevice.

i thought apple computers could be infected, there is AV software for them.

Windows software is far easier to attack and why it is so popular with the mental defectives that do this practice, seeking some sort of recognition/power from the infamy.

Thanks for all the feed back.
It's good to know our I devices are secure.
And that we don't have to at this time worry about viruses and malware.
So for now we can use our I devices risk free unlike our pc's which can be infected easily if your not careful
Thanks again and cheers ( time to play with this awesome jail broken device )
