After Apple's announcements today, I'm super bummed about the updates to AirPods Max. These are my favorite headphones I've ever used, and they are just being ignored.
They have a bunch of flaws that I wish would have seen updates after almost 4 years, and now who knows the next time they will get updated. The case for them is horrible, and the fact that they don't have any sweat or moisture resistance stinks. The sound quality was good for 2020, but now even Apple's cheapest AirPods at $129 have a more advanced audio chip in them.
After all this time, we got a few new colors and USB-C. Not to mention, they are still $550. There is no way I would buy these now, and anybody that was thinking about it should stay away.
Competitors have better offerings now, and Apple is keeping its AirPods Max in 2020. I just can't fathom why they couldn't have legitimately updated the AirPods Max. AirPods Pro 2 was a massive upgrade over the first gen. AirPods 4 would be worth an upgrade from AirPods 3.
