According to TechCrunch, the FDA’s authorization will allow Apple to roll out this capability in an upcoming update. The AirPods Pro 2 will soon be able to assist those with hearing difficulties through a personalized hearing experience.
Once the update arrives, users will be able to perform a quick hearing test using their AirPods Pro 2 paired with an iPhone. If any hearing loss is detected, the system will create a tailored sound profile, automatically adjusting audio to suit the user’s needs in real-time.
Apple says this clinical-grade feature aims to enhance conversations and help users stay more connected to their environment. The personalized sound settings will apply seamlessly across phone calls, music, movies, and games, removing the need for manual adjustments.
The Hearing Test can offer specific frequency tweaks for a more customized listening experience even for those with no significant hearing issues.
Apple plans to release this new hearing aid functionality as an update for the AirPods Pro 2 later this fall.
