I stumbled across this forum and figured maybe I could receive some feedback.
This is my first Iphone. I used to have an ipod touch 2g and jailbroke it not to long before I sold it. anyways I got a iphone cdma 32gb white about two months before the 4S came out. My droid kept causing me problems. Probably because they give you refurbished phones with the insurance. I couldn't rely on the rumors about the "iphone 5" release and figured all the Iphone 4 kinks would be worked out.
Before I jailbroke it I was constantly experiencing that mute button being activated during phone calls. I learned it was caused because of the sensor. Since I jailbroke it I have been making adjustments to somewhat rectify it. I used the phone call tweak to lock the calls and when making important phone calls I will use the headphones.
I'm on ios 5.0.1 and used the redsn0w 0.9.10b3. I'm trying to determine if it's my phone, verizon, or the jailbreak. I'm still trying to learn the ins and outs of the ios and jailbreaking so deal with me.
1. java errors with the browsers safari, opera and atomic lite. anytime the browser tries to utilize java it returns with errors.
2. lately the phone will lock up and the screen will go black and unresponsive. i know that the ios is up and running since i can hear the screenshot being activated. i need to soft reset to resolve the problem temporarily.
3. This problem seems to be progressively becoming worse. The Wifi signal seems to be working good. The GPS I want to kill. Not sure again if it's caused by jailbreak, software (google map problem), or antenna problem. When I use Google Maps for Navigation it definitely is responsive. But sometimes when I punch in the correct destination, the address will automatically generate a similar address and sometimes destinations that are a good 50 miles apart.
4. I suspect this to be a facebook software problem since the app caused so many problems on the droid. alot of the time when I click on something the phone will show the data being processed and then it will show a blank screen and I need to close the app and restart it.
5. apps/browsers/anything I have open will crash. especially safari. when safari redirects and opens a new window it wont open and returns a data error. Sometimes the data/server will not respond at all. I need to reset my network options. Then it will be a quick temporary fix.
6. the reception (bars) can not hold a steady signal it bounces. I was having a problem with the 3G but found out it was a problem with bigboss SBSettings so I got the update. 3G fixed but signal and error problems still.
7. recently some jailbreak tweaks automatically deactivate themselves.
****8. I'm not that good at reading these reports and being able to translate them. I'm not sure how long I've been receiving this error but I believe this is the main problem. I just need to figure out the rotten apple culprit and hopefully patch it.. I havent been able to find much info on this.
Apple Diagnostics and Usage shows Lowmemory 2012-xx-xx-xx..... my phone as I was just looking at them would show only a blank white screen. It seems like this lowmemory problem is causing alot of data problems and unresponsiveness and causing alot of lag.
I'm an IT/computer tech so I have a good grasp on this kind of stuff. Figured it's probably a combination between theVerizon network, the hardware in the Iphone, and the jailbreak. I understand that no technology is perfect. There will always be problems.I also understand by jailbreaking I have caused the Iphone4 to become vulnerable. But I try to keep the Apps and tweaks to a minimal. When I first jailbroke it I went a little overboard with apps and tweaks and bricked it. Just glancing quickly at my phone I have for cydia apps: cylay, iblacklist and its keygenerator, sbsettings, winterboard, activator, , icy, whozcalling, signal for google maps.
tweaks: asktocall, barrel, call lock, cdevreporter, cydelete, five icon switcher, five column SB, ikeywi, killbackground, user agent faker (hunch this might be causing problems), zephyr.
SORRY FOR A LONG AND SCATTERED THREAD. It's my ADHD getting the best of me. Anyways any feedback negative or positive greatly appreciated. I'd rather troublshoot and fix it myself then get a new phone. I do not want to adopt a furnished replacement phone that is someones old problem ridden phone given to me. Not to mention I opted not to get insurance. Thanks!!!
