an unknown error occurred (-1)

I've tried to restore my iPad 2 3g to iOS 6.1.2 and i get the follow error while restoring : an unknown error occurred (-1)


The screen of my iPad has a small crack i dont know if this makes a difference. I tried restoringin recovery mode aswell as in DFU mode but get the same result. I also tried a newly formatted PC and the error remains the same. Any ideas what I can do? Its in recovery mode now.

TUTORIAL - Failsafe method to restore the current version of IOS

I tried this guide to the T and it didn't help. I took a chance and re-downloaded iOS 6.1.2 and put the devide in DFU mode again and first got a 3014 error which made me happy that its not longer -1. Then I tried again and lo and behold it installed.
