Apple is a few weeks away from unveiling its first wearable device, and we've seen a lot of rumors pointing to the fact that they are working on a secret car project, as well. But it seems that this is not everything Apple is cooking in its secret labs.
Fresh information coming from analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray is claiming Apple has a small team working on augmented reality devices. Here's what Munster has been saying in his research note:
"Based on conversations with industry contacts within the virtual and augmented reality spaces, we believe Apple has a small team working and exploring the augmented reality space."
However, Munster told investors that a product from Apple in the augmented reality space could be around ten years away. He further added:
"Apple’s early involvement in the space suggests the company is preparing for the next evolution of computing. At the core, the group is likely trying to understand a wearable interface that design would ultimately make fashionable/socially acceptable.”
The analyst further added that Apple is working to develop devices “that don’t have social stigma and also have utility Google Glass doesn’t have.” Furthermore, he believes Apple is still working on a standalone TV set:
"Based on talking to people in industry, I think it’s pretty clear Apple is working on a TV, and I think time will set us free.”
What do you think about this? Leave your comment below and let's discuss on the matter.
