Rovio has delivered a massive Angry Birds scoop today with the news that it's joining forces with Twentieth Century Fox to create a new game based around two of the main characters from the forthcoming motion picture, RIO.

As you can see from the trailer, in Angry Birds RIO, the original Angry Birds are kidnapped and taken to the magical city of Rio, where they eventually escape from their captors and set out to save their friends, Blu and Jewel, two rare macaws and the stars of the Fox film RIO. Angry Birds RIO will feature 45 dedicated levels, physics-based demolition challenges and lots of replay value, all with unique twists based on the film. Regular updates will also be added.

Angry Birds RIO will be arriving in the App Store in March to coincide with RIO the film’s gala world premiere event.
