I have iHome and my iPod 3 is able to dock there.
However, my iPhone 4s in the otterbox defender case can't seem to physically connect to it, anybody else have this issue?
Does the iPhone 4S just not connect or must I take it out of the defender case to connect?

Which one do you have? We have the iD9 and our iPhone 4S docks fine with the case on. It's a thinnish Speck case, not an Otterbox though.

A otter box defender will not fit in 99% of docking stations due to its size. You have to take it out

Great call on the dock extender, never even thought of it!

Yeh, I have it in the case, and actually have no idea how to take it (nor do I want to, just nervous).

No problem!! My previous iPhone, 3GS, rarely left it's Otterbox Defender. Unless it was on the bed clearing the little bits of debris that gets caught inside it.

I have the iHome. My iPhone only connects to the dock on the left side. I must say I don't care for the iHome. I thought it would be perfect for my iPod,iPad and iPhone but I don't use it much.

Look on ebay for dock extender or adapter. Get the cable or hard plug version, whatever you want.

I have the reflex otterbox and love it because when i want to dock it on my ihome all i have to do is take of the bottom part and dock it. The top is still protected while the bottom is docked. Also have dropped mine with the case on screen side to the ground a few times even in parking lot and still in on piece. If you want to do a lot if docking then trade up to the reflex otterbox and dont get white in any of the otterboxes. They get dirty to fast.
