I ask this because I read something that said if you install PDAnet on a JB iphone running 6.0 or higher it will deactivate your phone. Hence my question, since the only reason I want to JB my (well Girlfriends) phone is to use PDAnet.

thanks

As far as I know, tethering apps from Cydia don't work on iOS 6 as of yet, not even MyWi or TetherMe. PDANet does deactivate your iPhone yes.

well crap! the whole reason I want to do this is for my girlfriend to be able to tether the iPad I'm gonna get her, and the whole reason for the iPad was for the tethering....DAMN IT!
Know of any tethering/hotspot programs I could use?

iOS 6 by default comes with tethering but most carriers will require a tethering data plan. But in some cases, if your data pool is big enough, they'll drop the charge for it and let you tether using your data pool

yeah, she's grandfathered in on verizon's unlimited plan. I called to ask them about tethering and they stated that it would be $20 a month and only 2gigs could be "shared".
That's what started me on this whole JB journey. I think I will still get her the iPad and just hope that a tethering program for iOS6 comes along.

Ah. Well definitely take advantage of that since its pretty hard to carry over an unlimited plan. Well as of now, there's no news on that being fixed as of yet. It might be because it's not compatible yet
