Hi was jus wondering when you use an app on your phone how do you no if it's shut down properly? Is there anyway to tell if they running in the background??? What do you do???

Double tap the home button to bring up your multitasking bar. Hold on any app for a couple seconds and they will start to wiggle. Then press the little red - sign that appears on each app you want to close...

Thanks! I do understand how to do that, but Patricia was indicating there was a proper way to shut an app down after using one. I couldn't find any info on that however, so I was wondering if I was missing something.

That's the proper way. To be honest is shouldn't make a difference as the apps are in a 'paused state' meaning they shouldn't be doing anything anyway...

Double tap doesn't seem to work on my iPhone 3G. It opens 'Favorites' instead! Guess I need to update the OS. Haven't done it in a long while.

In iPhone 3G you completely close an app by taping once on the home button.

Get SBSettings in Cydia. This App will help regain your RAM.
