When Apple made its Q3 earning available to the public, the company had also announced that the App Store hit a milestone of 900,000 applications available to download, with 375,000 apps made specifically for the iPad. App discovery service AppsFire made an announcement on Twitter today that the App Store has hit 950K applications, just 50k short of a million.
While this shows that the App Store has grown by 50k apps alone in the past two months, it could also mean that Apple will be putting on another giveaway. During the 5 year anniversary of the App Store, and the 1 billionth app downloaded, Apple made numerous premium apps free as well as giving out a $10,000 iTunes gift card.
