During its WWDC keynote Apple has announced that it will integrate rewards programs and store-issued credit cards into Apple Pay, thus marking the first big update issued to the payments service since it was first launched. Apple has also rebranded Passbook into Wallet.
Starting with iOS 9, Apple Pay will support Walgreens Balance Rewards, Kohl's, Coca-Cola, Dunkin' Donuts, Panera Bread, and Wegmans. Apple Pay users will be able to store and add them just like they would do for credit cards. BJ’s Wholesale Club, Kohl’s Department Stores and JCPenney are also said to partner with Apple on this.
A minor improvement in the iOS 9 Maps app will also show you which merchants support Apple. And if you're reading this from the UK, you'll be glad to hear that Apple Pay is coming to your country this summer.
