All the early signs were there that the iPhone 6, and in particular the iPhone 6 Plus, were set to be a big success for Apple, with both phones selling out in just a few hours after pre-orders kicked off on Friday.
Now, the early figures are in, and MacRumors reports that Apple has announced that it has processed over four million pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which is double Apple’s previous pre-order sales record of two million iPhone 5s pre-ordered in 2012.
“iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are better in every way, and we are thrilled customers love them as much as we do,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. “Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday.”
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will go on sale this Friday in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK. On September 26 they will be available to buy in a further 26 countries.
