According to a Reddit user, it seems that both of Apple's upcoming iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan will allow users to quickly look up flight status data. The upcoming operating systems include a "flight data detector" that can spot mentions of flight numbers in apps and gives you more details regarding that trip's details, somewhat similar to how Google Now and Cortana does it.

Thus, you will get such details as the departure or arrival times, relevant airport terminals and also a map showing you the location of the aircraft. This feature could prove to be real handy for iPhone or iPad users who want to check for flight delays or just check an airplane's location. Apple is expected to release iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 El Capitan this fall, most likely in the beginning of next month when the new iPhones and iPads are set for release.
