Apple has today shared some stellar numbers for App Store sales today, writes 9to5 Mac. According to Apple’s figures, last week saw a new record for App Store billings, with customers spending nearly $500 million via app and in-app purchases in the first week in January.
Apple said that aside from this record-breaking week, the whole of 2014 was a record-breaking year for the App Store, with a 50% increase in billings. During this time developers earned over $10 million collectively from app revenue, and $25 billion cumulatively from total app sales.
Apple also stated that the App Store now has more than 1.4 million apps.
“This year is off to a tremendous start after a record-breaking year for the App Store and our developer community,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “We’re so proud of the creativity and innovation developers bring to the apps they create for iOS users and that the developer community has now earned over $25 billion."
