Having just released what is proving to be a very successful LTE version of the iPad, Apple has now turned its attention to the next iPhone, and AppleInsider reports that investment firm Barclays have said that Apple is currently reviewing components that have been submitted for its approval by would-be suppliers. According to a new report from Barclays, Apple is expected to use a Qualcomm MDM9615 LTE chip in the next iPhone that is capable of supporting voice and data connections on high-speed 4G networks. This is in contrast to the Qualcomm MDM9600 modem installed in the new iPad, which is only capable of data connection via 4G LTE, and not voice. AppleInsider notes that the next iPhone will most likely be a world phone that is compatible with various 4G LTE networks around the world, again unlike the new iPad, which is currently only compatible with Verizon and AT&T LTE in the US.
