Apple held its "Spring Forward" event this morning, showing off a new Macbook, an Apple TV price cut, as well as more information about the Apple Watch. But before Tim Cook unveiled the aforementioned, Apple's CEO announced a new milestone for iPhone and the company.

Today not only marked the day that the Apple Watch pricing and release date were announced, but also the 700 millionth iPhone sold. Along with the huge number, Cook claimed that year over year the iPhone business has grown 49 percent, while competitors have only been growing 25 percent.

The Apple TV wasn't left out of the number game either. Cook announced that over 25 million Apple TV units have been sold, claiming the device is the "industry leader" in the streaming TV space. However unlike the iPhone, the Apple TV doesn't seem to have caught on to consumers like its older brother. Maybe that will change with its new $69 price tag.

At the rate that iPhones are selling it won't be more than 2-3 years before they reach the billionth iPhone sold.

Quality will always sell.
Apple has a very savvy marketing department, they price all their devices at a level that will maximize the profit from each device. If it's too cheap they'll certainly sell more but have less profit in the bank. If they're too expensive the profit will start to drop off as the total number sold drops.
