BGR writes today that Apple looks set to start getting tough in the App Store, meaning that it is going to start rooting out apps that violate its terms and conditions. According to the original story on AllThingsD, Apple’s recent pulling of the AppGratis app from the store is just the beginning. Apple removed the app from the store because it was in violation of two sections of the App Store Review Guidelines: firstly it promoted other companies’ software, which is forbidden in the guidelines, and secondly, it sent marketing messages as push notifications, which is also not allowed. AllThingsD says that the ousting of the app is Apple sending a message to developers that it intends to start cracking down on other apps that infringe on those two particular aspects of the guidelines. With Apple’s App Store approval process already being so stringent, it makes you wonder how the apps actually got through to the App Store to begin with, but it seems like some of them did, but their days may well be numbered when Apple finds them.[/FONT]
