Even if last week we reported that Apple has started losing some ground in Europe, this week brings good news for the tech giant. According to the latest comScore research, the Cupertino company is still the leader in the US, marketshare wise. The results were calculated for the last three months before May 2013.
The results stayed the same as the previous three months as Apple takes the American crown again with 39.2% users (which translates to 141 million) opting for Cupertino. Samsung fared out pretty well in the study too and scored 23%. The success might be attributed to the fact that the Korean company released its Samsung Galaxy 4 in the period within which the study was assembled. The other smartphone producers that made it to the top were HTC, Motorola and LG.
Apple and Samsung were the only two companies that actually experienced some growth in the three month period. Compared to February 2013, Apple gained another 0.3%. Interestingly enough, Samsung managed to do better, pumping up its numbers with 1.7%.
Platform wise, the comScore survey paints another picture. Android is the most widespread platform across the Northern American continent with 52.4%, while Apple steps in at number two with 39.2%. Samsung has grown with 0.7% since this February and continues to hold monopole due to its wide adoption by an increasing number of smartphone producers. The other platforms that made it to the top are of course BlackBerry, Windows Phone and Symbian.
