If you - like all humans, have clumsy moments and somehow unwillingly misplace your device, it’s good to know that the Find my iPhone app is there to help reunite you with your lost gadget. Not to mention that the little software is incredibly useful if your Apple gear has been stolen or transported without your knowledge to an unknown location. The app is skilled at identifying the location of iPhones, iPads, iPods and even Macs.
So far, the application identified the spot where the device was located and it showcased it on a map. But this week, the software got an update, which will enable users to view the location of the lost gadget as a point of interest in the map app. On top of that, users get the option of receiving driving directions up to that very spot. To do so they just have to tap on the “car” icon located within the point of interest window. The directions will be provided to users via Apple’s own iOS Map app. The only problem that we have to highlight with the software is that it can’t locate the exact building in which your missing device is situated, but knowing the area where it is supposed to be, will surely make it easier to find it.
The new tweak also brings some separate new buttons - Play Sound, Lost Mode and Erase which are displayed separately from map view. Other updates include:
- play a sound for two minutes at full volume
- remotely lock your device
- remotely wipe your device in order to delete all data
