MacRumors reports that Apple has today kicked off its annual event in support of World AIDS Day, pledging that with every purchase made with Apple Pay at Apple.com, in an Apple store, or via the Apple Store app, from December 1 until December 7, Apple will donate $1 to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
You’ll also have probably noticed that the App Store Today tab is focused on Apple’s (RED) initiative, with the aim of raising both funds and awareness to help rid eight African countries of HIVV/AIDS.
Apple’s (RED) campaign has to date raised $160 million over the past 10 years or more.
“By working with (RED) to stop the transmission of HIV from moms to their unborn babies, we’re already seeing a significant impact in areas where help is needed most,” said Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of Environment, Policy and Social Initiatives. “We’re committed to continuing the fight and empowering future generations through these vital efforts.”
