According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal, Apple is testing larger display iPhones and iPads at its Cupertino campus. The report points to Apple working close with Asian suppliers, testing a larger iPad and possibly an iPhone phablet.
It doesn't come as a surprise that Apple would be trying to compete with Android device, as Samsung offers many smartphones in numerous screen sizes. Apple currently only offers two sizes of iPhone and two sizes of iPad models. This report claims that Apple is prototyping an iPhone as large as 5.7-inches and an iPad, which could go all the way up to 13-inches.
While we doubt we'll be seeing such devices anytime soon, sales of the iPhone 5S this year could determine whether or not Apple needs to step its game up. Android handsets have surpassed 4-inch screens long ago, some customers have switch operating systems due to the fact that a larger display is needed.
