Yahoo News has picked up on a report in Digitimes today which says that Apple is increasing its global shipments for the first quarter of 2011 to 20-21 million, up from 19 million units. According to the report, Foxconn will be shipping approximately 14-15 million WDCMA iPhones, up from 13 million, and Foxconn and Pegatron Technology will also be shipping 5-6 million CDMA iPhones. If thats true it would make it even more likely that the iPhone will be appearing on Verizon early in the new year, with Digitimes stating that the CDMA iPhones will be launching in Asia Pacific and the U.S. Yahoo points out that earlier in December, Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu predicted that Apple will ship 62 million iPhones in 2011, with Verizon shifting 2-3 million units per quarter in the U.S., or 8-12 million per year. Yahoo also quotes Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster as saying that Apple can expect to sell an extra 2.5 million iPhones in 2011 if it adds Verizon Wireless as a carrier.
