Hi sorry if this is in the wrong place, just wondering if anyone cud advise on the Apple TV? Which would be the best one to get, I understand s the first one has a hard drive so you can store things on it and take it away from home a d still have your films or whatever to watch without wifi? where is it you get your films from for it? Do you have to pay to download them from Netflix and similar? (Never been on Netflix)

We would use it for watching YouTube, maybe mirroring-I understand thats viewing what's on your iPhone onto the tv, including playing games? But not sure how much that would be used. an if able, taking on holiday with us to watch films possibly with or without wifi connection.

So based on what We will use it for can anyone recommend which one might suit us best? Thanks

1) If your AppleTV is jailbroken, you can transfer DVDs to the device. Or, using digital copy coupons on iTunes will allow you to save them onto your ATV. Netflix does not allow for downloading and is considered piracy if you rip them from Netflix or similar services.

2) AirPlay supported aspects of iOS can be mirrored onto an ATV via Wifi. Mirroring the device completely is not possible without jailbreaking both your device and your ATV. Without wifi, you cannot Airplay or mirror

Without wifi, an ATV is essentially useless unless you've jailbroken it and installed a package that allows the ATV to accept external media via USB, where your HDMI cable must have a slim head to insert into the ATV, and a USB2.0/3.0 to MicroUSB adapter so that you can plug your external hard drive or your laptop into your ATV.
