MacRumors reports that Apple Retail head Angela Ahrendts has introduced some new holiday-themed initiatives in Apple Retail Stores in the build-up to the holiday season.

According to anonymous sources, who have seen Ahrendts staff memo outlining the changes, Apple’s new store gift cards will come in three shades, namely solid silver, gold, and space gray, to represent the three iPhone and iPad colour variants. The new gift cards are arriving in Retail Stores from today, November 17, and, as with previous Apple gift cards, they can be used either in-store or online, with $2000 being the highest value available.

Other changes in the lead up to the holidays include red holiday t-shirts for Apple Retail Store employees to wear instead of their regular blue t-shirts. Also, employees will no longer be wearing Apple ID lanyards round their necks, to make them more active in introducing themselves to customers.

While the red t-shirts are clearly only a holiday season feature, it’s not known if that’s also the case with the removal of ID lanyards, or if this is a permanent move by Apple.
