Are Text Messages and Photos Data or Phone Calls or does it depend on whether the phone is connected to my home WiFi?

What if they are iMessages to another iPhone?

I'm on Verizon and on my plan I pay per text message. Trying to decide if I should go for unlimited text.

They count towards your data limit, not your phone call minutes limit, if you are using the cellular system. When you are on WiFi, they don't count towards the data limit. iMessages over WiFi don't count towards the data limit. If you're on cellular, iMessages count towards your data limit.
