artificial life type games?

I grew up playing PETZ and Creatures

are there any games similar to this other than the SIMS?

I don't want any pet game that resembles farmville

but more in the vein of breeding and learning virtual "life" etc. thanks!

Creatures. Now there is a game that would be great for iOS. Sadly I haven't found anything like it yet. Hopefully someone will chime in with an app. Because I would like to have something like that as well.

They are coming out With a creatures 4 sometime next year but I was wondering if there's anything else to tide me over or in competition

The sims bother me. Mine don't Seem to move unless I tell them to do something
