9to5 Mac reports today on some internal AT&T documents that it has just received which have reference to a new tier, Device Tier 3 that will be added to AT&Ts phone database on October 4. This new tier will need to have a higher rate of insurance, and the iPhone and other devices will be moved to the new tier on October 4. 9to5 Mac speculates as to whether or not this could be a possible hint about the launch date of the next iPhone, or at least some sort of indication of the time frame for the release. In particular, 9to5 Mac questions why the iPhone is singled out for a mention in the document and not any other device. Of course it could all be nothing more than a big red herring, but interesting all the same. And a timely warning to buy your AT&T insurance before October 4, now that you know it will be increasing, whatever the reason!
