MacRumors reports today on AT&Ts announcement of its second quarter financial results, which show that AT&T iPhone activations are flat at 3.6 million, compared to the first quarter of 2011. This is still up from the figure of 3.2 million activations in the year-ago quarter though. AT&Ts figures show that 24% of iPhone activations were from new AT&T customers, which is slightly higher than the previous quarter, and represents a stabilisation after a decline from 40% from the period early on when AT&T first had the iPhone. What makes these figures particularly interesting is the fact that the second quarter of this year is the first full quarter that the Verizon CDMA iPhone was available, ending AT&Ts exclusive iPhone contract with Apple. As MacRumors notes, although its probably a little too early to say, it seems as if AT&T has not had too many of its current iPhone customers moving to Verizon, with AT&T also stating that its iPhone subscriber churn had fallen slightly from the last quarter.
