Augmented Reality AppBlaster Gun Available to Pre-Order

I can remember a prototype of this appBlaster augmented reality gun appearing a few months back, but now, according to Slash Gear, it’s actually available to pre-order for £19.99 from apptoyz via the link below, with orders expected to start shipping from July 6. As you can see from the video, the appBlaster is an actual, physical blaster gun, with a special housing designed to hold your iPhone snugly while you play the free augmented reality game, “apptoyz Alien Attack”, which has been specially made for the blaster. Apptoyz says that this is currently the beta version of the game, but the full version will be released on July 6. Incidentally, there’s actually another game on the app store called Alien Attack, which is nothing to do with the appBlaster, so be sure to click on the link below to get the correct game.

According to Slash Gear, the appBlaster is battery-free, and works by utilising two manual pads that push against your iPhone’s screen when you pull on the trigger, as if you were using your fingers directly on the screen. To reload the blaster, simply cock it as you would a real gun, and the iPhone’s motion sensors will do the rest.
