Barred iphone 3gs??

Hi every1 I'm in need of a little help. I bought a 3GS cheap off eBay with a fault that is it don't seem read the sim card always says searching or no service. Dose this mean it's just faulty or could it be blocked by carrier.

An1 now how I can check or fix this problem? Thanks

You had the same problem as me, when i got an 3gs off ebay, basically you need to get ur money back because when i took it into apple store they told me that the phone was faulty because they update os directly from the phone so it makes the sim reader go bust; the proper way is to do it over computer, but it still works with their original 3G sim, but still is worth a try going in ur apple store, but if u wann see a geek/guru u need to book a oppointment. What i copied from the comment i put on a diff thread, might not help.

mine want barred my phone was from usa and locked to a network i had phone flashed and jailbroke on 4.1 and now its unlocked mate
