Hey guys I'm new to all this and could use some help. I have a jail broke iphone4 running on 4.2.1. There are some apps that i want that need newer firmware, so i wanted to upgraded to 5.0 and jail break that but I'm getting a error code 3194 witch after reading i think i can get passed but something talked about changing my baseband and how it would be a bad thing. So what is baseband and what steps should i take to ensure a smooth upgrade?????

Thanks guys any help would be appreciated.

The 3194 error usually means your iTunes is not updated. As far as baseband goes... it only plays a role in whither or not you're unlocking your phone from the current carrier to use it on a different carrier. Also, the current firmware version being signed from Apple, via iTunes, is 5.0.1.

Thanks Tom

So if i upgrade my itunes and get 5.0.1 i can jailbreak again but may not be able to unlock ? Thats ok i dont need to unlock.
