Battery won't charge

I've been having an issue with my battery charging. It will plug in & say it's charging & appear normal however it will hit around 57% and will not go any higher. Also my phone has been just randomly shutting off for now apparent reason. Any suggestions? Do I possibly need a new battery? If so, does anyone have any recommendations on where to get one?...any help tips or suggestions on this situation would be greatly appreciated. Not sure if the software could have anything to do with it, but I am runnng an older version 4.1 I believe b/c the phone is jailbroken so I have not updated in awhile. Thanks In advance for any help.

You can safely update the iPhone and still jailbreak it. For the battery, you can likely get one off eBay and YouTube is a great place to see how to change it. But I would search YouTube to see how easy or difficult it will be. Btw. Which iPhone is it?
