blocked calls

my iPhone 4s was ringing and it said it was an unknown number and was blocked,is this the norm or can i unblock?also how do i unblock?

That means they blocked caller id so you could not tell who was calling.

so does that mean i can't answer calls where the caller hides their number?

No, you can answer them just fine. You just don't know who is calling.

The ways to deal with blocked calls are to ask the caller not to block them or choose not to answer any of them. (At least, that's my philosophy).

There are apps that will block blocked calls for you. But, if you're like me and have a friend who incessantly blocks his number, such apps are not practical. (At least if you want to talk to the person- lol!)

the thing is i haven't changed any settings but the call was blocked by my phone

It's the person on the other end that has the number blocked. My husband is a veterinarian and has his number blocked so clients won't see it. The call is not blocked, just the number. You can still chose to answer it
