Hi there

I recently broke my iphone 4 . i bought a new one through rogers and when i turned the phone on i thought they had syncd my contacts. My computer that had itunes on it with all my info is dead, so does anyone know how i would get everything from my old sim card to my new sim card? i cant figure itunes out for the life of me

thanks

I'm not certain, but I don't think your SIM card has your Contacts saved on it -- for you to be able to transfer to your new device. I may be wrong, and hopefully someone else will comment. As far as your iTunes comment, I agree. It's deplorable. By the way, were your Contacts saved in an online database such as Gmail Contacts, or Hotmail, etc....?? That's the best way to "save" your contacts for later use if your iPhone goes bonkers.

Hi there,

thanks so much for the quick reply. And no, all of my contacts are contacts I have added since i have had the phone. never thought of backing them up to gmail or something. the whole iTunes boggles me to no end. ive never been so confused with a program. I think mostly because I haven't it used it as much so i really haven't much to complain about.

thanks again

So, rowdy, what are you going to do now? Unfortunately, since your computer is gone, you may not have any choice but to manually re-establish all your Contacts again on the iPhone. In my case, I set up a Gmail account, set all my Contact info on that account, and the iPhone can synch with Gmail and ALWAYS keep my contacts safe, secure, and available in case of iPhone loss of Contacts. Good luck!

Well first I think I am going to sit in the corner and have a good ol' cry. Then when im over that I will start manually adding my contacts in again. and yes, going to set it all up with a Gmail account this time. I should have been more careful before hand and backed everything up properly before this happened. I hope someone can at least learn from my mistake. the sad part is, is the first think they taught me in college when i was taking computers was, Backup Backup Backup.

Thank you so much again for your help, and so happy to be a member of this board!
