buying an iphone 4 HELP

i got someone to buy me an iphone 4 from USA but if i will buy it i will buy it locked
I'm thinking of jailbreaking it but should i have hope of getting an 4.11.08 BB unlock?
anyways it's gonna be AT&T
how will the iphone know it's an AT&T hotspot
renaming the network to involve AT&T word might work on tricking the iphone
but anyways i can't connect to AT&T cause i live in a far country
getting Internet on the iphone 4 would be okay till the unlock will be realesed
are the DEV team anyways working on it?
so what are your opinion about it...what should i DO?

Did the person buy a factory unlocked phone? Or did they but it from a carrier.

Sorry but you cant trick the phone... it will be locked to ATT and I dont believe your sim card will work...

If it can't be unlocked(and 04.11.08 can't be) the iPhone will only work in the US. You are getting a very expensive iPod.

There is an unlock. It's just expensive...but it's not a software exploit like ultrasn0w it's a sim card, and there is also a company that does "permanent" factory unlocks.

I would hurry up and get to it, last time they were around, Apple shut then down, so I would contact them ASAP before Apple does it again.
