These days every big console game that launches has to have an app to go with it, and Activision has gone one better than that, with two new COD apps arriving in the space of a week.

Following up this week’s launch of Advanced Warfare on console, and its companion iOS app, Activision has released a brand new iOS app, Call of Duty: Heroes.

The game is a 3D combat strategy game, according to 9to5 Mac, and although it’s free-to-play, 9to5 Mac warns that there are some very expensive in-app purchases on offer in the game, including one for $99.99!

Gameplay is similar to that of Clash of the Clans, but in this instance, you get to command heroes (such as Price, Soap, and Harper), elite soldiers, and drones from the Call of Duty console games, including ones from Modern Warfare and Black Ops II.

It’s all very familiar strategy-gaming fare, as you build up your tiny outpost into a mighty fortress, prior to taking the battle to the enemy on their own turf, but if you simply can’t get enough Call of Duty at the moment, this could be the game for you.
