Can dial pad app behavior be changed?

I would like for my iphone dial app to always return to the dial pad once I leave and return. Now, if you go to dial app and from there access contacts and leave the app, when you return you still in the last contact. Most android phone apps always return to the dial pad, as a sort of home base for the app.
