Can i mute calls and texts when listening to music in docking station?

Hi sorry if ive posted this in the wrong section, i enjoy listening to music and have just bought a docing speaker system but find it annoying when text alerts or the phone rings and interupts the music, is there any way to mute calls/alerts and still listen to music? thanks
