Hello,

I was wondering if anybody knows if it's possible to create/use Iphone 4 as network for laptop?
It would be a great help for me while I am overseas.

If you do a search on "hotspot" you will find loads of info on this subject. Unless you are jailbroken, there will be a fee

Using the iphone as hotspot overseas, you will be charged Roaming fees and they are not cheap.

If you are spending any amount of time overseas, an unlocked phone and local pre-paid SIM will save you a ton of money

I have a solution to that. I will have my IPhone jailbroken tomorrow and have a Danish SIM card that I will be using which means that no, it will not be costly for me if I can be able to use my IPhone as the internet provider.
When I tried to let my computer find my Iphone's Personal Hotspot yesterday it did not recognize it. I tried to create a new network using my Iphone and it's Personal Hotspot that did not work either. That's why I thought I would ask if anyone has ever been successful doing this and if so, what to do.
Thanks

Just launch iTunes, then attache the iPhone, it should be instant once iTunes sees the phone.

I have tethered phones to my laptop at various times, never been hit with extra charges though (from tmobile).

Yes I have mine set up and my laptop, iPod touch and Xbox are all used through my iPhone. I have unlimited data though which allows me to do this. It's in general, network, personal hotspot. Assigned in there is a password. You use this to connect all devices to your iPhone. Only trouble with this is the iPhone has to be in the same area as its transferred wifi. So using it overseas I'm not sure.

Overseas is roaming, so whatever data allowance you have does not get included when overseas. Any calls or any texting overseas are being charged and do not count in your allowance plan..

Yes thought as much. This is why you need to be mindful if you are planning on roaming outside your data charges!

I've tried to connect my ipad2, but it don't see the ip4 CSID in settings to allow me to enter the 'key'.

Interesting the Xbox 360 works through it and never occurred to try, surprises me it's fast enough transmission speed not to be to laggy.

I have the Sprint 4s and when I go to general, network and try to setup a hotspot it says I must call Sprint to set this up. I a, already paying another $10 for the premium data package. How much more is it to tether and is there a work a round?

There are WiFi to GSM dongles, allow 3 devices. Depends how often you need to connect to make it viable.
