Can't get iTunes to open .ipsw file PLEASE HELP!

I'm on a mac, trying to jailbreak my iphone 4 with 5.0.1 firmware. I used pwnagetool and got it into DFU mode successfully but when I exit pwnagetool and go to restore my iphone, the only option iTunes gives me is to restore with Apple software and it's like it doesn't even recognize the .ipsw. Judging from the video tutorials I've watched, there is supposed to be a window that pops up that lets you choose the file you want to restore with. That doesn't happen for me. I'm probably doing something wrong but it doesn't seem like anyone else has this problem.

You have to hold down "option" while you hit restore to specify a firmware file.
