Can't get Jailbroken iPhone 3gs to reboot after battery dying.

HI guys, I just want to know how I can get my iphone to charge so I can boot it tethered. I connect it into a wall charger, and it comes up with the red low battery icon, same with the pc. But when it has charge, it goes to the apple loco, and because it's jailbroken, just stays on the logo and I assume won't charge. I left it like this for around an hour, tried to boot tethered and it went to pineapple logo, but then straight back to red battery icon! Getting so frustrated! All I've had is problems with iPhones. Can someone suggest something?

Will it let you put it in DFU mode while plugged into the computer or wall?

it will let me, yes. Just everytime I attempt to reboot tethered, it just goes back to the red battery after the pineapple.

Huh? Stays on the Apple logo because your on a tethered jailbreak? That should not happen. Your phone should boot up whether it's tether jailbroken or not.

Are you on iOS 4 or iOS 5?
