Can't restore back up onto iphone 5

I just received my iphone 5 today and i'm trying to restore my contacts from itunes to my new phone but i keep on getting the following message. "itunes could not restore the iphone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iphone that is being restored."
I noticed the iphone 5 in now using software 6.1.4 which was just released a few hours ago but my previous iphone 3gs has 6.1.3.
Is this the issue???
Is it possible to download 6.1.3 for my iphone 5 from somewhere and install that?

Update! My notes and Calendar are there but all my contacts are still missing.

I've found my contacts! I was looking in the browny coloured contacts folder but they're in the contacts section when you go into the phone section! Don't know if they were always there or if I've done something to make them appear! Still doesn't explain the error message I suppose.
