Capcom was one of the first of the major games companies to realize the power of iOS gaming, and has thus far done a great job of representing some of its key franchises, such as Resident Evil, on iOS, so its fantastic to hear the companys announcement today that it will shortly be releasing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for iPhone and iPod touch in North America and Europe. The new game will feature a 56-character roster, including the likes of Wolverine, Ryu, Iron Man and Mega Man, as players get the chance to pit their favourite characters from the Marvel and Capcom universes against each other in the action-packed tag-team arcade fighting tour de force.
True to the original PS3 and Xbox 3620 release, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for iPhone is set to include the Variable System, which lets players tag in other team members at any time, a feature that was specifically designed for the original Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and which is the key to the execution of the most powerful attack in the game, the Team Hyper Combo, where all three team members combine their ultimate powers.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be released for iPhone and iPod touch on April 25. No word as yet from Capcom about an iPad version.
