Yes but if you try charging the iPad with a iPhone charger it won't charge

It will charge, just very slowly

I tried it and after 10 hours it had not really gained any percentage at all so extremely slowly

Interesting. I do it all the time. I turn off the iPad and use the iPhone charger. It takes about twice as long but it always charges fully.
